Keynote Speaker
Wendy Pearlman is the Koldyke Outstanding Teaching Associate Professor of Political Science at Northwestern University, where she specializes in Middle East politics. She has studied Arabic and the Middle East for more than 20 years and conducted research in Spain, Germany, Lebanon, Jordan, Turkey, Israel, and the West Bank and Gaza Strip. Wendy is the author of four books as well as dozens of articles, essays, or book chapters.
Her most recent book is We Crossed a Bridge and It Trembled: Voices from Syria, a collection of testimonials that she has collected from more than 400 displaced Syrians across the Middle East, Europe, and the United States since 2012. Called “essential reading” by the New York Times, the book is a mosaic of stories and reflections that express the human dimension of the Syrian uprising, war, and refugee experience. |
